Botanical Bandana — Black Knight Scabiosa

$25.00
Style:

Botanically dyed bandanas are here, so you can wear the colors of the flower field year round! Black Knight scabiosa flowers are harvested and dried, then brewed into gorgeous dye baths that transform the dark purple-black fresh flowers into a range of mottled teals and soft stormy blues. The first two images are most representative of the range of teal/blue colors. Because every bandana is handmade, there will be slight variations in color and pattern across each style.

Blue+Yellow bandanas are overdyed with a quick dip in a Rudbeckia dye bath, and Blue+Brown pieces are underdyed with a dahlia dye bath.

Bandanas are ~20”x20” with serged seams, 100% unbleached cotton, and mordanted with alum and tannic acid. This process helps affix the dye to the fibers.

Recommended care instructions: hand-wash in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent, then hang to dry. Colors may bleed slightly on the first wash, but won’t stain other fabrics.

(Please forgive my imperfect attempt at ironing these beauties — I swear I tried. But whomst amongst us isn’t a little wrinkled, and isn’t that lovely?)
