Storytelling Through Floral Design (9/14)

$110.00

Sunday, September 14th, 1pm - 4:30pm at Twin Cities Flower Exchange (341 NE Wilson St., MPLS)

How can you use locally grown flowers plus elements foraged from your environment to capture emotion and personal narrative in a floral arrangement? In this advanced floral design workshop, you’ll use locally grown and gathered ingredients to tell your own story.

Hosted at Twin Cities Flower Exchange in NE Mpls. All materials and tools provided, plus light refreshments and farm-fresh snacks to fuel your creativity!

Beginning with an overview of color theory and basic floral design principles, instruction will focus on how design elements such as color, texture, and shape can evoke different feelings and meanings. Participants will then have ample time to design their floral arrangements, with technical support and artistic guidance from farmer-florist Elle.

Ingredients provided will include farm-fresh flowers from Mellifera, plus foraged goodies like mushrooms, seedpods, and more. Participants are heartily encouraged to bring other ingredients personal to them! Branches from your favorite trees, feathers found on a walk, veggies from the garden— your imagination is the limit to what a floral arrangement can include.

Like writing a poem, emotive and expressive floral design is all about saying the most with the least. Participants will complete the workshop inspired to use floral arranging —with garden-grown blooms, foraged material, or flowers from the farmers market— to express inner feelings and tell stories about their selves and communities.
