Floral Design 201: August Statement Arrangement (8/9)
Saturday, August 9th, 2pm - 5pm at Churchill St. Restaurant in Shoreview, MN.
Go bolder and bigger with your floral design in this “201” version of our classic workshop! Previous participation in a Mellifera workshop isn’t necessary, but some familiarity with floral arranging or other creative pursuits is helpful. Totally new to floristry? No worries— this class will help you harness and execute your unique creative vision! We’ll work with larger vases (aka - more flowers!), explore advanced color palettes, and dive deeper into arrangement styles and shapes.
What elevates a simple arrangement into a piece of ephemeral art? Learn techniques to achieve sculptural designs using florist mechanics and specialty ingredients. Use color theory to craft nuanced and expressive palettes. Using farm-fresh ingredients, you’ll design statement arrangements that reflect your unique creative eye!
The workshop will begin with a deep dive into complex color palettes and an explanation of sculptural design techniques. Participants will then select their ingredients from Mellifera’s “flower buffet”, featuring August’s best blooms, like zinnias, sunflowers, and marigolds. With guidance and individual instruction from farmer-florist Elle, you’ll be supported in bringing a bold creative vision to life. Vases and snips provided.
Come early to enjoy lunch at the restaurant, or celebrate your new creative skill with happy hour after we wrap up!
